New Laptop news

From woot.com!

"Oh, here you go again, Asus, playing the color card. Why does everything have to be about black and white and purple with you?

I dream of that distant day when all colors of Asus Eee PC 900 netbooks have intermingled so that they’re all the same beautiful color. Whiblurple, I call it. And we’ll see each other for our 8.9”, 1024×600 screens instead of the color of our cases. We’ll stop judging based on what’s outside and look at what’s inside, like our Intel 900 MHz mobile processors and our DDR II 512MB memory. And a young netbook will know that he or she can go as far as his or her pre-loaded work and entertainment apps will take him or her. Forward we’ll march, hand in whiblurple hand, into the promised land of compact, powerful netbook computing.

But that’s not the world we live in now. Here we are in the early 21st century and consumers still think it’s perfectly OK to discriminate against some netbooks based solely on color. Don’t bother with the excuses: “it’s just what I’m used to” or “it’s what I’m comfortable with” or “it’s what matches my Lisa Frank laptop bag”. Yeah, and I’m sure some of your best friends have purple netbooks, too. The real blame, though, goes to the companies like Asus that continue marketing their products to narrow demographic slices based solely on color preference. What do you think you are, a record label?"
